Mi primer vestido ::: My first dress

Seguimos con la costura. He terminado mi primer vestido. El patrón es de New Look y la tela es de Plush Addict. No ha sido muy buena idea elegir satén pero de todo se aprende. Ahora vuelta a las benditas telas de algodón.

Carrying on with the sewing. I have finished my first dress. The pattern is from New Look and the fabric from Plush Addict. It has not been very good idea to choose satin but the lesson is learned. God bless cotton fabrics!

Tiene unos pliegues en el escote que está rematado con cinta al bies. He tenido oportunidad de practicar con la remalladora el acabado de las mangas con dobladillo enrollado.

It has pleats on the neckline and it is finished with bias binding. I had the opportunity to practice the rolled hem on the sleeves with the overlocker.

Lleva un fruncido en la espalda para darle algo de forma. 

It has a gathering on the back for better shape.

The Colourful World of Kaffe Fassett, American Museum in Britain, Bath

Tenemos la suerte de vivir muy cerquita de Bath, una ciudad preciosa y con muchas actividades culturales. Aprovechando un fin de semana de buen tiempo nos acercamos al American Museum in Britain para ver la exposición de Kaffe Fassett. Tal y como dice su título la cosa va de colores, para muestra las fotos.

We are fortunate to live very close to Bath, a lovely town with many cultural activities. Taking advantage of a weekend of good weather we visited the American Museum in Britain to see the exhibition of Kaffe Fassett. As it says it is all about colour, have a look to the pictures.

Mitones y fundas de cojines ::: Mittens and cushion covers

Seguimos decorando nuestra nueva casa. En ella nos encontramos unos cojines que por más que lavamos no llegaban a tener un color definido, así que decidí hacerles unas fundas. Primero el cojín "blanco roto".

We continue decorating our new home. In which we found some cushions that no matter how many times we washed them they still did not look clean, so I decided to make some covers. Firstly a glance of the kind of whitish cushion.

  

Dos de las fundas están hechas con un tela de furgonetas retro volkswagen que compré en un mercadillo en Birmingham.

 I made two of the covers ​​with a retro volkswagen vans fabric bought at a flea market in Birmingham.

Para el tercero utilicé una tela de tickets que compré en el mercadillo de Benicalap (Valencia), que va muy bien con el color de la silla de Ikea.

For the third I used a tickets fabric bought in the market of Benicalap (Valencia), which goes well with the color of the chair from Ikea.

También he terminado unos mitones de la revista Simply Crochet. Son de estilo motero con broches metálicos. Ya serán para el próximo otoño/invierno jeje.

I have also finished a pair of mittens from the Simply Crochet magazine. They are biker style with metal fasteners. They will be for next fall / winter season lol.

Cestas ::: Baskets

Las mudanzas te obligan a ordenar tus cosas, lo que no viene mal de vez en cuando. He hecho un par de cestas para organizar las baldas de mi armario. Una de ellas utilizando una entretela muy rígida que compré por error, adornada por un volante que compré en el mercadillo de mi pueblo. La segunda es de trapillo a crochet.

When you move it forces you to tidy your stuff, which does not hurt from time to time. I made a couple of baskets to organize my closet shelves. One of them using a very stiff interfacing that I bought by mistake, adorned by a ruffle that I bought at the flea market in my town. The second basket is a jumbo crochet one.

 La primera con más detalle. Trazé un rectángulo en la entretela y recorte cuadrados en cada esquina para formar la cesta. Lo cosí con la remalladora, que tengo que practicar, y se ha quedado bastante bien. El volante se lo cosí con puntada recta.

The first one in more detail. I traced a rectangle on the interfacing and  cut squares in each corner to form the basket. I sewed it with the serger, as I have to practice, and has been pretty good. I attached the ruffle with straight stitch.

Para la de trapillo me basé en un patrón de Lion Brand y las asas las hice tejiendo varias cadenetas en lugar de puntos bajos en la penúltima vuelta. He hecho varias cosas más para la casa que os mostraré más adelante. Disfrutad de los días de pascua.

I followed the Large Crocheted Bowl pattern by Lion Brand to make the crochet one. I made the handles just crocheting chains instead of double crochet stitches on the round before the last one. I have made more stuff for the house that I will share in further posts. Happy Easter!

Australia for crafters I

Estamos de mudanza, por eso tengo el blog un poco abandonado. Está siendo un proceso lento y penoso, hay que echarle mucha paciencia a las empresas de mensajería en Inglaterra, así que me he propuesto pensar en cosas positivas y echando la vista atrás he recordado que todavía no he compartido las fotos de las cosas que compré en Australia, así que más vale tarde que nunca y aquí van algunas de ellas.

We have moved to a new house, so I did not have time for the blog. It's been a slow and painful process, you have to have a lot of patience with courier companies in England, so I have planned to think about positive things and taking a look back I have just realised that I have not shared photos of the stuff I bought in Australia, so better late than never, here they are some of them.

Paseando por The Rocks en Sydney me encontré con esta tienda en the Nurses Walk, buttons buttons buttons. Tienen todo tipo de botones, yo no me pude resistir a estos de madera con formas de animales típicos de Australia.

Walking through The Rocks in Sydney I came across this shop in the Nurses Walk, buttons buttons buttons. They have all kinds of buttons, I could not resist these wooden ones with aussie animals shapes.

En la misma zona, The Rocks, ponen un mercadillo los sábados donde compramos este paño de cocina con una ilustración de Sydney. Tengo pensado ponerlo como cuadro, es muy bonito para usarlo para secar platos. Tienen unos diseños geniales, echad un vistazo a su web. Me despido por hoy aunque me quedan más cosas por compartir del viaje.

In the same area, The Rocks, there is a flea market on Saturdays where we bought this tea towel with a Sydney design. Boina y funda para procesador de alimentos ::: Beret and food processor cover

Parece que últimamente me ha dado por hacer fundas para todo jeje. Nuestra batidora ha pasado a mejor vida y hemos comprado uno de esos procesadores de alimentos. El almacenamiento está bien pensado porque todos los elementos se apilan pero me preocupaba que cogiera polvo. Os presento a nuestro nuevo cacharro:

It seems that I have been making plenty of covers lately lol. Our blender has passed away and we bought one of those food processors. The storage is well thought out because all the elements are stacked up but I was worried about the dust. Say hello to our new kitchen gadget:

Creo que fue en noviembre cuando empecé la boina de la revista Simply Crochet. No sé qué me pasa pero siempre me acabo peleando con las instrucciones de la revista y acabo las cosas a mi manera. Así que he hecho la boina más grande de lo que venía y también he tenido que hacer algunos cambios para que se viera la estrella bien abierta. La idea es fácil de reproducir: tejer una flor o estrella en redondo, unir los pétalos o picos con cadetenas y seguir trabajando en redondo para hacer la boina.

Este fin de semana he descubierto Dunelm Mill con su sección de telas y ya tengo otras cosas en mente.

I think it was in November when I started the lacy beret from Simply Crochet magazine. I do not know what's wrong with me but I always get confused with the instructions of the magazine and just finish things my way. So I made the beret bigger and I also had to make some changes so the star can be seen wide open. The idea is easy: crochet a flower or star in rounds, join the petals or spikes with chains and continue working in rounds to make the beret.

This weekend I discovered Dunelm Mill with their fabric section and I already have other things in mind.
