Regalos ::: Gifts

Estamos teniendo un baby boom en nuestro entorno y yo estoy intentando sacar tiempo para hacerle algún regalillo handmade a los bebés. Para Anna he hecho un cambiador con una bolsa compañera para guardar un par de pañales y las toallitas.

We 're having a baby boom around us and I am trying to find time to make some handmade gifts for the babies . For Anna, I made a changing mat with its bag to fit a couple of diapers and the wipes.

El cambiador está hecho con una toalla de lavabo, una capa de guata y tela de algodón comprada en Abakhan.

To make the changing mat I used a hand towel, batting and cotton fabric bought at Abakhan.

También le hice un gorrito y unos patucos de crochet. El patrón del gorrito lo encontré en Pinterest y para los patucos me basé en unos de Mollie Makes añadiendo la pulsera.

I also crocheted a hat and a pair of booties. I found the hat pattern on Pinterest and I based the booties on un from Mollie Makes adding the strap.

Vestido Burda 6/13 y guarda bolsas ::: Burda 6/13 dress and bag holder

¡Qué rápido está pasando el tiempo! La última vez que escribí un post fue en verano y desde entonces he vuelto a la Universidad así que no me he parado a actualizar el blog. Desde entonces he hecho un par de cosillas, la primera el vestido sacado de este Burda. 

The time is flying! The last time I posted was in Summer and have since returned to University so I have not updated the blog at all. Since then I 've done a couple of things, first this dress from an old Burda magazine.

La tela es de Fabricland, el botón y elástico de restos que tenía por casa. Las mangas no me acaban de convencer, mucho volumen para mi gusto, seguramente las acabaré modificando. Aún así no está mal, otro vestido para la colección. Es el modelo 133 de la revista 6/13.

The fabric is from Fabricland ,I had the button and elastic at home. I am not very happy with the sleeves, too much volume for my taste, surely I will make some alterations. Still not bad, another dress for the collection. It´s the pattern 133 from the 6/13 magazine.

Nos hemos mudado a principios de septiembre, y no sé si sólo nos ocurrirá a nosotros pero parece que las bolsas se reproducen, así que he hecho un guardabolsas siguiendo este tutorial y utilizando un fat quarter de la Kirstie Allsopp collection que venía de regalo con una revista.

We moved in to our new house in early September, and I do not know if this just happen to us but it seems that the plastic bags are everywhere, so I've made a bag holder following this tutorial and using a fat quarter from the Kirstie Allsopp collection which came as a gift with a magazine.

Por último, ayer estuve de compras y para aquellos que estéis en Inglaterra no dejéis de pasaros por Hobbycraft que tiene los kits de 6 fat quarters a mitad de precio. Yo compré estas dos monadas y ya tengo un par de cosas en mente, sacar el tiempo para hacerlo ya es otra historia jeje.

Finally , yesterday I went shopping and for those who you are in the UK do not forget to check Hobbycraft, their 6 fat quarters kits are half price. I bought these two cuties and I have a few things in mind, to find the time to make it is another story lol.

Vestido con vuelo TGBSB ::: The Great British Sewing Bee Full Skirted Dress

Aunque esta semana he retomado el patchwork este verano he estado con la costura más que otra cosa. Terminé este vestido justo antes de irme de vacaciones, así que ya lo he estrenado y todo! Tengo que admitir que no ha sido fácil: he tenido que ajustar la parte superior varias veces, no apliqué los ajustes a las vistas así que no me cuadraban y para colmo cuando estaba remallando las costuras me distraje y le hice un corte en el pecho. Vamos, completito. Apañé el corte con un parche y las vistas como buenamente pude pero el caso es que al final quedó ponible.

Although this week I have taken up the patchwork again, this summer I have been mainly dressmaking. I finished this dress just before leaving on vacation, so I've already worn it! I have to admit that it has not been easy: I had to adjust the bodice several times, I did not apply the adjustments to the facings so they did not fit and to top it off when I was serging the seams I got distracted and made a cut on the chest. A complete mess. I managed to patch the cut and fit the facings as best as I could but the fact is that at the end it was wearable.

El patrón es del libro Sew Your Own Wardrobe, del programa de la BBC The Great British Sewing Bee. Se trata de un concurso de costura donde los participantes tienen que superar distintos retos. Les proponen usar diferentes tejidos, desde algodón hasta neopreno pasando por piel, patrones para adultos, niños, vintage, transformar prendas radicalmente y hacer alteraciones.

The pattern is from the book Sew Your Own Wardrobe, from the BBC program The Great BritishSewing Bee. It is a sewing contest where the participants have to overcome various challenges. They have to use different fabrics from cotton to neoprene including leather, patterns for adults, children, vintage, radically transform garments and make alterations.

 

Las mangas no me acababan de convencer así que cambié la parte superior por la del shift dress. La tela de estrellitas es de Fabricland.

Blusa ::: Top

Compré esta revista Patrones el verano pasado y una de las cosas que me llamó la atención fue esta blusa. 

I bought this Patrones magazine last summer and one of the things that cought my eye was this top.

El patrón es sencillo: una pieza delantera, otra trasera con una lágrima y se remata con cinta al bies. La tela de flores es un resto de la bolsa de patchwork que le hice a mi madre. 

The pattern is simple: one front piece, one back piece with a teardrop opening and the seams are finished with bias binding. The floral fabric is the remnant from the patchwork bag that I made for my mother.

 La pieza no era lo suficientemente grande como para poder sacar el delantero así que cosí dos trozos. La tela trasera es de punto. La cosí con la remalladora. He comprado más tela de punto para seguir practicando con la remalladora, aunque todavía no tengo muy claro qué hacer.

The remnant was not big enough to get the front bodice so I made from two pieces. The back fabric is knit. I sewed it with my overlocker. I have bought more knits to practice with the overlocker but I have not decided yet what to do next.

Pantalón corto de pijama ::: Pyjama shorts

Aunque parezca increible durante las últimas semanas ha hecho algo de calor en Inglaterra, así que me puse manos a la obra e hice un pantalón corto para estar en casa. La tela es de Fabricland, tiene un estampado tipo jardín de la abuela de patchwork. El patrón está sacado del libro one-yard wonders, se traza con tus propias medidas.

Quite incredibly during the last weeks the weather has been quite warm in the UK, so I set to work and made a pair of pyjama shorts for loungewear. I bought the fabric from Fabricland, it has a granny's garden patchwork print. The pattern is from the book one-yard wonders, drafted with your own measurements.

El libro es muy recomendable, sobretodo si te pasa como a mí que compras tela sin ningún proyecto en mente. Y aquí el resultado.
