Cumpleaños y mi nuevo juguete ::: Birthdays and my new toy

He estado un poco desconectada por nuestros cumpleaños. Nos hemos escapado a Edimburgo y también hemos tenido tiempo de celebrarlo en casa. Este año en lugar de tarta Mariano me hizo rosegones, y un superregalo, mi remalladora. Estoy experimentando con ella, de momento sólo he pulido las costuras de una falda y me ha encantado, es rapidísima.

I have been a bit absent due to our birhtdays. We have made a short trip to Edinburgh and we also had time to celebrate it at home. This year instead of cake Mariano made rosegones, a type of biscuits from Valencia, and he made me a wonderful present, my new overlocker. I am just playing with it and I  have used only once to finish the seams of a skirt  but I love it, it is so quick.

Mi primera prenda :: My first garment

Las clases de costura van dando sus frutos. He hecho un pantalón de pijama. La verdad que si sumas lo que vale el patrón, la tela y el tiempo invertido probablemente merezca más la pena comprarte un pijama en el Primark o Matalan, pero nunca será único como el mío. Además que mola decir que lo he hecho yo! El patrón es de Simplicity comprado en Amazon y la tela es de Abakhan.

 The sewing classes are paying off. I made a pair of pyjamas pants. The truth is that if you add up what it's worth the pattern, fabric and time spent it is probably cheaper to buy a pyjama in Primark or Matalan, but it will never be unique like mine. Also it's cool to say that I made it! I bought the Simplicity pattern on Amazon and the fabric is from Abakhan.

 

Se ven enormes, eh? Pos eso que los he reducido de todos los lados posibles. Cosas que he aprendido: los patrones simplicity son enormes y no hay que deprimirse con sus tallas jeje.

They look massive, don't they? I can assure you I have reduced every single side. Things I have learnt so far: simplicity patterns are massive so do not get depressed with their sizes :)

 Y seguimos con el reto, el fin de semana pasado preparé macaroni cheese. La receta era similar a esta. Cremosito y rico rico, perfecto para el frío que va entrando.

And continuing with my little challenge, last weekend I cooked macaroni cheese. The recipe was similar to this one. Creamy and tasty, perfect for this chilly weather.

Mi pequeño reto ::: My little challenge

Voy guardando las recetas que me gustan de revistas, coleccionables, libros, etc. Lo llevo haciendo unos 10 años, con lo que os podéis imaginar el montón que tengo acumuladas. Todavía no he probado la mayoría de ellas. Las miro y remiro, se me hace la boca agua y poco más jeje. Me he planteado un pequeño reto, probar una receta por semana.

Empecé la semana pasada con los rollitos de queso y ayer preparé toad in the hole, una receta típica inglesa. Veremos lo que nos trae esta semana.

I have been collecting recipes that I like from magazines, collectibles, books, etc.. I've been doing it for about 10 years, so you can imagine how many I have accumulated. I have not tried the majority of them. I look at them over and over, they make my mouth water and that's it. I have set myself a little challenge, try one recipe every week.

I started last week with cheese whirls and yesterday I made toad in the hole, a traditional English recipe. We'll see what this week brings.

Las dos son del supermercado Asda. La primera se puede leer más o menos en la foto. Lleva guardada casi 10 años y es una pena que haya tardado tanto en probarla porque se hace bastante rápido y los rollitos están riquísimos, a tope de queso.

De la de toad in the hole no hice foto pero esta receta es muy parecida, sólo cambié las cantidades y le puse un poco de pimienta de cayena.

Both are from Asda supermarket magazine. You can read the first one more or less in the photo. I have kept it for almost 10 years and it's a shame it has taken so long to try it because it is quick to make and the rolls are delicious, packed with cheese.

I did not take any pictures from the toad in the hole but this recipe is very similar, I have only changed the quantities and added a little cayenne pepper.

Este verano ::: Last summer

Con todo el follón de la boda se me ha pasado enseñar un par de cosas que he hecho este verano. Un bolso de Hello Kitty para Mónica. La tela la compré en Plush Addict. 

With all the wedding fuss I did not have the chance to show you a couple of things that I made last summer. A Hello Kitty bag for Mónica. I bought the fabric at Plush Addict.

Y un par de kits de Mollie Makes. Un llavero de sardinas y un perro de estampado retro.

Nuestra Boda ::: Our Wedding

He estado un poco ausente del blog y el motivo no puede ser mejor, nuestra boda. Tanto pensar y preparar ha dado sus frutos, pasamos un día maravilloso rodeados de la gente que queremos.

Pronto estaré de vuelta con más proyectos e historias, gracias por estar ahí.

Festival of Quilts Birmingham III

Ya me quedan sólo un par de posts más para poner todas las fotos jeje. Vamos allá.

I have only a couple of posts left to show you all the pictures :) Here we go.

 Creo que este fue el quilt que ganó, aunque ni la combinación de colores ni el diseño son de mi gusto, hay que admitir que tiene mucho mérito.

I think the first quilt was the winner, although I do not like the colour scheme neither the design, I have to admit its excellence.

No tengo ni idea de cómo han conseguido este efecto mosaico pero es una pasada.

I do not have a clue how they have created this mosaic effect but it is amazing.
